  1. Vitamin C will prevent colds.  This is a common myth that many people tell themselves is true when they desperately want to avoid cold season.  But this isn’t the case for our regular day to day lives. Vitamin C is important to your health, but not in the way you may think.
  2. All raw vegetables are more nutritious than cooked vegetables.  In fact, cooking can actually increase the nutritional value of some vegetables, such as carrots.  Cooking carrots breaks down the tough cellular walls so you can get the most nutritients out of the vegetable.
  3. Don’t eat eggs because they are high in cholesterol.  As of lately, eggs of have developed a bad reputation, but they don’t really contribute to high levels of cholesterol.  Eggs are actually one of the most nutritious foods you can consume as they offer many nutrients such as zinc, vitamin D, antioxidants, and even choline, which is a chemical that boosts brain power.
  4. Eating little to no carbs is healthier for you.  It’s not necessarily about eating fewer carbs, but it is about eating healthier carbs.  For instance, it is much more beneficial to your health to eat whole grain bread than it is to eat white bread.  They are both carbs, but whole grain bread includes important grains that improve your health and wellbeing.  Studies have shown that men and women who eat healthier carbs and whole grain foods are 20% to 30% less likely to suffer from heart disease, so be aware of the type of carbs you are consuming.
  5. Margarine is better than butter.  Margarine and butter have about the same amount of calories but are made from different ingredients.  If you’re not careful, your margarine may actually be made of ingredients that are not good for your body, such as trans fats.  The most important thing to look for when buying margarine is a trans fat free version.
