Public transportation in Charlotte is convenient and affordable, thanks to a network of buses, streetcars and the LYNX Light Rail that runs around the city’s I-485 Loop. The Charlotte Area Transit System, or CATS, also provides commuter and intercity bus service.

Craft Beer in Charlotte

The city is a mecca for craft beer, with 18 breweries and more on the way. Check out the Olde Mecklenburg Brewery for complex and delicious German-style brews, or sample some of the city’s latest creations at Heist Brewery or Birdsong Brewery.

College Sports in Charlotte

Two NCAA Division I teams call the Charlotte area home. The Charlotte 49ers play a full slate of varsity sports at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte, and the Davidson Wildcats compete in men’s and women’s athletics at Davidson College.

These universities are a draw for students and alumni alike, who often return to the area after graduation. The UNC Charlotte campus offers more than 350 student organizations to choose from, and the Charlotte 49ers have won conference titles for a variety of sports over the years.
