True Correction vs. Temporary Relief

The vast majority of those coming to a chiropractor suffer from some form of back pain. It makes sense that once that pain is gone, you may wish to discontinue getting your spine checked. However, the pain you are experiencing didn’t occur overnight. It took months or years for misalignments to occur within your spine. These misalignments, also known as subluxations, cause nerve interference, which in turn reduce the brain’s ability to communicate with the rest of the body. This lack of communication between the brain and the rest of the body is where chiropractic comes in. It takes more than an adjustment or two to correct years of misalignments. The amount of chiropractic adjustments that are necessary for proper healing and correction is directly proportional to how well the body holds an adjustment and how extreme your subluxations are and how intense your muscle tension is. When you begin chiropractic care, it is expected for the body to return to its initial positioning from before care began. Over time your body will train itself to hold the adjustment for longer, decreasing the number of necessary visits. This is true correction. Here at Greater Life Chiropractic in Charlotte, NC, we don’t strive to provide just temporary relief. We aim for true correction, and that takes place when chiropractic adjustments are received over time.

Clinical Difference in Number of Visits

Many research studies have looked at the effects of true correction versus temporary relief. One study looked at a group of 93 people, the majority of which have suffered from some form of back pain for more than a month. A whopping 93% of these individuals were satisfied with their care after visiting with their chiropractic doctors consistently for 2 years, and 77% of them were no longer required to visit their primary care physician for that issue. Implementation of consistent chiropractic care will lead to better health since it offers true correction and not just a brief moment of pain relief. In another study, patients had the option to receive chiropractic treatment, but many of them only received one or a few chiropractic adjustments. The success rate was dramatically lower when not performed on a regular basis.

The “Sick Care” Model

This is a term used to describe our current healthcare system. You get sick, go to the doctor for a medication, and hopefully feel better a couple of days later. There is no education, no personal connection, and they aren’t trying to keep you truly healthy. Chiropractic works in direct opposition to this. We provide true, high-quality health care for our practice members to heal, regain, and maintain their health and wellness. Regular adjustments from a Charlotte chiropractor can help you manage your spinal health and overall body function for the rest of your life.

What Makes Greater Life Chiropractic Different?

Many chiropractors simply aim to provide temporary relief, but here at Greater Life Chiropractic, we provide principled chiropractic care. That means we strive to achieve and maintain your body’s health over time, instead of just providing a quick fix. After a thorough evaluation of your spine and a complete neurological assessment, Dr. Grant Lisetor will be able to provide a chiropractic care plan just for you, all with the goal of achieving true correction and optimal health.
