Did you know that over 50% of pregnant women experience some degree of low back pain during gestation?

One study observed relief of back pain in 75% of the cases documented who received chiropractic care throughout pregnancy! While relief from low back pain is a significant improvement in a woman’s function and feeling during pregnancy, pre- and perinatal chiropractic care offers a host of other potential benefits! One of the most notable observations is that research has also shown that first-time moms under chiropractic care see an average of 25% shorter labor times, and an average of 31% shorter labor times for women who have previously delivered a child!

Knowing the the nervous system is the first system to develop, and that every other cell, tissue, and organ in the developing body is directed by it, it is vital that baby has a healthy environment in which to grow. Research shows that the state of a mother’s health prior to and during pregnancy has a direct impact on the development, birth, and long-term health of her child. Factors that affect mom and baby include the mother’s nutrition, the level of inflammation throughout her body, and effects of various stresses that she may be facing on her body—particularly, her nervous system. By balancing the function of the autonomic nervous system, consistent chiropractic care can help a mother’s body properly adapt to the stresses—physical, emotional, and environmental—that she faces during pregnancy, therefore, helping her body be in an optimal state of health for her developing baby.

At Greater Life Chiropractic, our doctors are certified in Webster Technique by the International Chiropractic Pediatric Association. Webster Technique utilizes a specific type of adjustment that focuses on removing spinal misalignments while specifically focusing on the pelvic area for optimal results during pregnancy, as well as in labor and delivery. One survey reported a 92% success rate in seeing babies naturally move from a breech position, to a head-down presentation after mom received chiropractic care including the use of Webster Technique!
